Ramadan Mubarak!

In Sha Allah, we are nearing the start of Ramadan (the month of fasting), which will most likely begin on the first day of the lunar Islamic month of Ramadan (1443h according to the Lunar Hijri calendar). Also, if the solar calendar is used, the first day of Ramadan will be observed on April 2nd, 2022. The month of Ramadan brings lots of blessings in terms of preserving our obedience to our creator, Allah (SWT), the creator of all creatures, heavens, earth and the whole universe.

The month of Ramadan, or fasting, encourages us to be devotional in our prayers and to learn self-restraint and practice complete forbiddance from all excesses and transgressions, which, if applied to all aspects of life continually, will spread honesty, generosity, and constancy among people. Self-control can also be defined as the ability to avoid wasteful expenditures, which could instead be used to help the impoverished live in a peaceful and equitable world. This act of charity will also bring about justice and equality for all humanity. As it is stated in the Holy Quran, Allah says, "O you who believe, fasting is prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you, that you may develop God-consciousness." The Holy Quran (2:183). Furthermore, God-conscious people (in verse 2:183) are regarded as those who may experience righteous deeds and lead to righteousness and piety, as well as acts of kindness and empathy. An act of kindness could be as simple as providing deserving people with delicious food, especially during the month of Ramadan.
